28 Sunflowers Photography

A couple of weeks ago, I did something.  Something super little to some. But it was big for me. I've known Pamela Hyde Leon for about 3 or 4 years now, she has done my headshots for my business, she has been my friend and partner in shenanigans, and a great bouncing board for my ideas and dreams. She has even let me borrow her amazing daughter to watch my son when I'm I'm a bind. Pam is amazing ...  Anyway... I have HATED having my picture taken for years. Before the weight gai n, before having my child, this hatred has gone on for years... like to childhood. So stepping in front of a camera terrified me. Bearing my soul to the camera is terrifying. But I needed to do something.  Having my hair and makeup done was a treat, normally I'm behind the chair, not in it. I didn't micromanage the girl that did it (all of you girls that know me know I micromanage how my hair is done). I just let her do her work and Pam and i chit chatted.  P...

There are days when a crazy idea hits me.  Luckily, I have a team of amazing people I can call on to create these fun and fantastic images. I was approached last week by Ron Cook Media wanting to make a video about me, and what I do when creating images of these wonderful women that I am surrounded by. At first I thought they must have been mistaken...  Me?  Me? Fast forward to Friday, we meet. They're serious, they LOVE what I am doing, and they want to shoot some stuff about the studio that day. Everything fell into place, and we got the entire shoot done on Friday. I am still in shock that someone was inspired by what I do.   Thank you to Ron and Karen Cook for everything. I've asked some of my amazing clients to write down how their session and images made them feel. It's amazing to me how the time we spend together, and the images we create together make my clients feel.    I was a professional ballerina for most of my life. I felt beautiful when all done up and in my costumes. Since retiring and becoming a Mum the first time....let's say I haven't felt truly "beautiful and comfortable" in my own skin for awhile. Luckily Pamela came into my life....when I was 8 months pregnant with my 2nd baby.       To say I felt beautiful is an understatement. Pamela captured moments of my life that are raw and real. Unsure if we'd get pregnant again...Pamela brought out the sheer love and awe I had at that time.      I can't express how grateful I am for Pamela making me feel like a woman, wife, Mum and superstar all at once!!!      Wondering if custom photography is for you...

Sometimes my clients say it so much better than I can:  When you are 36 weeks pregnant you tend to feel sensitive in regards to your appearance... Some days you'll feel beautiful and other days not so much; every day is like a roller coaster. I have​ to admit I was hesitant to do maternity photos just because of my feeling self conscious about my body. But, Pamela made me feel comfortable and most importantly BEAUTIFUL!
